Gordian III AD 238-244. Antoninianus (AR; 21-22mm; 4.00g; 1h) 3rd issue, March - May (?) 240. IMP CAES GORDIANVS PIVS AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian to right. Rev. CONCORDIA AVG Concordia seated left on throne, holding patera and double cornucopiae. Rare.

New legend on obvers: The adoption of the cognomen PIVS is probably to be regarded as a tribute to the memory of Gordian I and II – perhaps on the anniversary of their proclamation as Emperors. The M ANT would be omitted to shorten the title.” RIC p.21,*.
